The pews of Saint Luke's

Open hearts, open minds, open doors.

Welcome to St. Luke's

View of the church from the front

St. Luke's is a campus of Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church with a special feeling of intimacy and caring located in the Glover Park section of Washington, D.C.

Worship at St. Luke's is grounded in the spirit of Methodism's founder, John Wesley, who embraced both traditional worship forms and sensitivity to the many surprising ways God is speaking to us. We look forward to worship as a sacred time of giving thanks for the continual creative power of God, resting in the abiding care of the Spirit, and discerning the voice of Christ. We hope to leave worship renewed and rejoicing.

What's new

Big Changes at St. Luke's

There are big changes that are coming to the St. Luke's site of the Metropolitan Memorial Cooperative Parish. When Rev. Sandy Rector leaves in a few weeks to lead a different congregation, we will no longer hold worship services at St. Luke's on Sunday mornings. However, we will continue to offer the Crossroads service here at 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and invite you to come to Metropolitan Memorial (3401 Nebraska Ave., NW) on Sundays at either 9 a.m. (blended/casual) or 11:15 a.m. (traditional).

Join us at Metropolitan Memorial on May 23 & 30 (there will be no worship held at St. Luke's on these Sundays):

  • Sunday, May 23rd there will be a Combined Cooperative Parish Service with St. Luke's, Wesley and Metropolitan at 10am at Metropolitan Memorial (3401 Nebraska Ave., NW), followed by the Pentecost Picnic on the Lawn (the dunk tank returns!). Come enjoy a wonderful worship experience followed by a great time of fellowship, food and fun!
  • Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday, May 30th will be Rev. Sandy Rector's last Sunday preaching at Metropolitan Memorial (3401 Nebraska Ave., NW) at 9 and 11:15 a.m. before she leaves to start leading a new congregation. Join us for a farewell reception that morning at Metropolitan between the services at 10:10 a.m.
  • Finally, Sunday, June 6th will be our last Sunday morning worship at St. Luke's at 11:30 a.m. Join us for this special service and for the cookout in the garden afterwards.

Worship gatherings

We invite you to join us Saturdays at 5 p.m. for the Crossroads service.
